The new Federal Capital Territory Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Olusola Odumosu has declared war on vandals of critical government infrastructure and manhole thieves.
Olusola who took over on Tuesday from Peter Maigari, said he will rid the FCT of criminal elements.
“We must put an end to the activities of vandals and manhole thieves. We must put an end to vandalization of street lights and other critical infrastructures of government by criminal elements in the FCT.
“We must work together and ensure victory for the agency.
“All of us must work to deliver on the mandate of the corps. We should also not embarrass the corps in trying to discharge our duties. But we should ensure civility in carrying out our duties.”
Speaking further, the commandant said it is a new dawn in FCT command, adding that new attitude to work must be shown by all the officers.
“It is the beginning of hard work. I have serious passion for this job, and I do it as if my life depends on it. I always work to promote the image of this corps, and all of you must do same.
“As commandant, I cannot fail this agency. The Commandant General has given me the responsibility to take charged and transform this service; and I must do it with your necessary support.
“I am here to serve and not to witch hunt anyone. I come in peace and we must maintain the tempo and work together.
“I have heard a lot of stories about this command, but I will judge you by what I see.”
“Also we should note that FCT command is very central and a lot is expected from us. Therefore, we must transform the command and do what is necessary to promote the corps.”
