Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC)
Niger State Command, Elijah Etim Willie and two others have been accused of allegedly conniving to sale the tower worth ten million naira decommissioned at Maikujeri village in Rafi local government.
According to reports, the tower was said to have been procured from a contractor for a proposed radio station at the rate of 8.5 million naira to be established in Abuja by a popular northern media outfit identified as Media Trust Limited.
Findings revealed that the contractor one Engineer Bello Magaji who had acquired the Mast Tower from the IHS Company for onward delivery in Abuja but was confiscated by NSCDC officers.
It was reliably gathered that the two suspected personnel involved in the purported confiscation of the items were identified as Kabiru Abdullahi Haruna and Ibrahim Abubakar Tanimu connived with their boss using fake documents together with one Bello Mustapha scrap dealer who allegedly sold them to a scrap metal dealer in Lagos.
Sources at the NSCDC office told our reporter that the case was reported to the command while one of the suspected officer was detained and interrogated but was immediately released just as others involved were left carrying out their duties uninterrupted.
It was further gathered that the command did not show any serious interest in the matter since the issue was reported alleging a connivance in the entire process, noted that they have shared different amount of money from the deal to the sum of about Four million naira.
Investigation also revealed that the lackadaisical attitude of the commandant was due to his alleged deep involvement in the scandalous incident hence he frustrated the process of getting positive results, noting that the Controller General of the Corps have been notified on the matter.
A very close source from Media Trust Limited also confirmed the development, saying that they will not relent in ensuring justice is done by returning the tower to the contractor and onward delivery to the company accordingly.
Speaking to newsman, the contractor Engineer Bello Magaji, who lamented over the situation also expressed disappointment over the attitude of the Niger state Civil Defense Corps, appealing to the agency to urgently return the items or pay him eighteen million naira to include other expenses accrue.
When contacted, the Niger state Commandant of NSCDC, Dr. Elijah Etim Willie refused to give details on the case confirmed through text message sent him by to our reporter, saying the matter is currently been handled at the headquarters for investigation which will reveal its findings after completion.
