Niger State Emergency Management Agency NSEMA has disbursed over N70 Million chequs to the various disaster victims to cushion their effects in the state.
The Director General of the agency, Alhaji Abdullahi Baba Arah made the disclosure during a press briefing and distribution of cheques to the victims of New Market in Minna, saying that relief materials to the sum of N4 million was earmarked for food and non food items
He stated that 50 people are to benefit from the kind gesture from the state governor Mohammed Umar Bago’s administration to cushion the effects of the disaster on the affected victims in Niger state .
Baba Arah explained that three cases of disasters we’re recorded within the period under review and commended the present administration of governor Mohammed Umar Bago.
The Niger State Deputy Governor, Comrade Yakubu Garba represented by the Deputy Chief of Staff, Ibrahim Bello expressed sympathy with the various disaster victims, added that the government is passionate about the wellbeing of the poor, down trodden and vulnerable hence the intervention.
He assured of the Nigerlites of their security and welfare as exhibited by the current administration in the state, warning the residents to be conscious of the disaster instances by taking precautions.
The deputy governor presented cheques to five victims symbolically assuring them of getting their alerts before the end of the day.
Those presented with the cheques include; Isah Garba N600,000, Samuel Ezekiel N1.624,000, Abdullahi NURA N4.045,000, Maimuna Yusuf N1.520,000 and Abdulrahman Ibrahim N210,200 respectively.
In his remarks, the community leader, Ahmed Jafaru appreciated the Niger state government for the kind gesture and prompt intervention, saying that this will go a long way in cushioning the impacts of the disaster on the victims and assured of the proper utilization of the resources.
