The Governorship Election Petition Tribunal in Kano has declared the candidate of All Progressives Congress, APC, Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, winner of the Kano governorship election.
Nullifying the election of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, the tribunal ruled that he was not elected by the majority of lawful votes.
Delivering the judgement virtually yesterday, the court gave the grounds upon which it declared Gawuna as validly elected are that both the 1st and 3rd respondents admitted over-voting.
The tribunal therefore held that over voting amounting to 200,000 votes alleged by the petitioner are true.
The court also cancelled some of the votes credited to NNPP candidate, and deducted same from his total votes and declared Mr Gawuna as winner.
