Professor of Political Economy,
Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai (IBBUL), Salihu Mohammed Niworu, has called for the creation of more local government areas with full financial autonomy in order to bring massive development to the grassroots in the country.

Professor Niworu made this known while speaking at the 20th inaugural lecture series held in the campus auditorium Lapai.

The theme of the lecture was; “Primitive Capital Accumulation and Poverty in Nigeria: Where is the Place of National Building”.

He said that corruption, primitive wealth accumulation, maladministration leading to over throw of government in African countries.

He added that this will ensure good governance and security to Nigerians, stressing that government should stop celebrating the construction of dual carriage ways and others rather should invest in the construction of rural road network, bridges in ungoverned territories across the country.

The don maintained that Nigerian leadees should always reflect the teachings of their religion with fear of God rather than accumulation of public wealth hence should imbibe the culture of righteousness and patriotism the public entrusted them with.

The Political Economy Professor charges leaders in the country to ensure deliberate policies, programmes and activities that will drastically reduced the current high poverty rate confronting the nation if the country must end insecurity and other social vices.

In his remarks, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Abu Kasim Adamu who applauded the inaugural lecturer, called on government at all levels to do more in order to get rid of poverty in the state and the entire country.
