Stakeholders in the country have advocated investment in youths so as to achieve peace.

Speaking on Thursday at the opening ceremony of the National Roundtable on Volunteerism for Peace and National Stability, Free Light of Nigerian Youth Foundation (FLONY) urged the Federal and State Governments, National Assembly and major stakeholders in the country to expand their investments in building the capacity of our youths especially acquiring necessary skills and capacities that will make them gainfully employed.

The National Coordinator of the foundation, Dr Lanre Adebayo, said it cannot be overemphasized that the youth is a critical element in any effort to ensure peace.

He said the youths are often unwilling instrument in the process of creating crisis.

He explained that the Foundation was established primarily to contribute to these national efforts with a vision of a great Nigerian Lady and a Princess of Adamawa, Princess Farida Musa Jauro.

He added that the Foundation has, since its establishment in 2020 made phenomenal contribution to build the capacity of our youths.

He further said the foundation has trained over 15,000 youths in various skills, adding that it begun in the North Eastern part of the country and has continued to expand to other parts of the country.

Also, the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero who was represented by one of his sons, Alhaji Sanusi Aminu Bayero pledged to support the foundation in all aspects pertaining the youths in the country .

He said his Father supports the youth because they are the back bone of all the generation in the country and also commended the foundation in all that they do in capacity building and youth development .

Also, the Cultural Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy, Mr Li Xuda said the world is a big family and no country can stay out of it and develop quickly as an isolated island.

In words “With this international background, it is of special significance to hold “National Dialogue on Peace, Security and Youth Empowerment” with the theme “Peace and Unity, A Panacea for Better Nigeria”.

“ I want to emphasize that youth is the future of the country, youth empowerment leads to the development and prosperity of a country.”
